Tetrahydrocurcumin is one of a major metabolites of curcumin. Tetrahydrocurcumin shows cardioprotective effect on lipid peroxides and has been demonstrated to be an antioxidant.Tetrahydrocurcumin can inhibit tumor angiogenesis, treat human breast cancer, and be a promising candidate for the prevention of CIPN by chemotherapeutic agents.Tetrahydrocurcumin exhibits protective effects against cisplatin-induced oxidative renal damage in rats by inhibiting cyclooxygenase-2 and caspase-3 activation; it has a protective effect over arsenic induced toxicity in rat.
